NAS Storage

VT Storage Networks
The Apella core networking architecture is designed to scale from a single server with local media storage to multiple ingest and playout servers with central NAS/SAN storage while supporting remote high resolution and low resolution editor and browser clients. This design provides the ability for any Apella playout server or other NewsFlow client to become completely autonomous in the advent of a critical failure of the central database or central media storage. In case of a network failure, all assets scheduled for broadcast are cached on the local playout machines and therefore will still be available for playout.

Network Attached Storage
Networked Attached Storage (NAS) is shared storage on a local area network. A NAS server is a storage appliance that consists of a high performance file server that plugs into a Local Area Network (LAN). This solution is specialized for optimized file storing, retrieving, and serving files. Users running different types of machines and running different types of operating systems can share files, and VT tracks media assets across unlimited Media Locations.

VT NAS 3000/6000 series
The VT NAS 3000/6000 series enterprise-class unified network storage systems can scale up to 36TB, or 2700 hours of 25 Mb/s video per chassis. The VT NAS 6000 series provides bandwidth throughput up to 1 Gigabyte/second, providing cost-effective solutions for HD media infrastructures. Multiple Ethernet ports, RAID-5ES protection, live file system replication, and feature-packed software management tools on a Linux-based operating system create a truly best-of-class storage solution.

VT NAS 2000 series
The ultra-affordable VT NAS 2000 series for smaller applications supports 800 Mb/s throughput, or 25 concurrent 25Mb/s streams, and scales from 3.2 to 24TB in chassis sizes from 2U to 4U. It runs on an end-to-end 64-bit Linux-based storage computing platform driven by dual or dual-core CPUs with RAID-5 or -6 protection. System status warnings and disk failure predictions are delivered via email and/or page notification.
