Internal Storage
Internal Storage Drives
Apella standard-definition media servers (LCS, SDX) include at least 750GB of internal storage, or 60 hours of media storage
at 25 Mb/s. Apella high-definition media servers (HDX, HDS) come standard with 4TB of internal storage, or 280 hours at 50 Mb/s. All
Apella systems are upgradeable to 6TB of internal storage utilizing 8x 750GB drives. Both systems utilize an eight-slot, front loading, SATA
drive bay. In a shared networked environment,
the internal storage caches the media files and database locally increasing
overall system reliability.
Local Database Caching
The VT networking architecture is designed so that every Apella caches the
Database information locally. On startup, the Apella connects to the VTDB and caches all the database information including media locations and metadata.
Upon addition, deletion or modification of media to the VTDB, each Apella
server receives a notification and immediately updates the local server’s
cache. Other client applications like VT Proxy Editor, VT Director and enVue work in the same fashion. Apella server playback is achieved by reading the
database from the local cache. In the event that the Apella server loses its connection with the VT Database, playback continues from the local cache. |
